Is womens' dating advice to men a contradiction to the reality?

Women will tell men what they THINK they want, not what they RESPOND to.

This IS the basis of womens' sexuality, the inability to admit this BECAUSE they derive sexual pleasure

from putting up resistance and being overwhelmed.

Do you agree?Is womens' dating advice to men a contradiction to the reality?
I think it will be more fun to respond to Wendy G's points as a way to answer the question.

';No, I don't agree. How exactly would that come about, biologically? What is the evolutionary purpose for ';resistance';?';

Well, the evolutionary purpose for resistance is easily illustrated. Lets say that Joe the caveman and Jane the cavewoman are off in the bushes alone. If Jane tells Joe to wait, that she doesn't feel ready yet, and JOE WAITS, then Jane has quantifiable proof that Joe really cares about her. If Joe called her a dyke and ignored her than she did the right thing by denying him. Therefore, a predisposition to resistance would help women make good mating decisions over millions of years.

';I think it's so funny that some men think they know what women want better than women do. ';

Actually, men who know a lot of women have much better insight into what women want than women do. Women are pretty much emotional and irrational all their lives. They don't want to analyze their own motivations and actions because that might restrict their options in the future. Girls feel like the right to change their mind is something they should be able to exercise at any time, no matter the outcome. Guys understand that so they spend a lot of time studying girls to see what they actually respond to. Therefore, guys know what girls want better than girls do. (not all guys)

';Ironically enough, most of the men who think they know so much, don't have a ';woman.'; ';

You're absolutely right. Guys who THINK they know what women want are obviously acting on wrong information and they probably don't have a girlfriend, duh. However, guys who ACTUALLY know what women want also don't seem to have a girlfriend because they have little incentive to be committed. Any time they want to **** a new girl they can, so they don't have to trade a committed relationship for sex. They are the guys who don't want to keep a steady girlfriend because they don't have to.

Anywho, what Wendy G said is typical of girl-think. She probably believs it, but she's wrong.

Not all girls get off on the Scarlet O'Hara treatment. However, there is an obvious incentive for girls to test guys before they put out and putting up token resistance is one of those tests. Since guys who **** a lot of girls understand the resistance isn't serious, they play the game and the girl is happy to be sexed up by an alpha male. When an inexerianced guy gets the resistance he stops because he thinks it's real. The girl then knows he doesn't get much attention from women. It's almost scientific.Is womens' dating advice to men a contradiction to the reality?
You're right of course, you three geniuses have it all figured out...I should just listen to YOU and forget that I have a mind of my own...and the education to back it up, because YOU'RE so brilliant.

Women don't tend to give good dating advice.

The problem is, most women tell men what they think they want, rather than what they actually want.

A women may say, 'compliment her all the time' 'buy her lots of gifts' 'tell her how lucky you are to have her'

Of course, what women really want is a guy of higher status than them. (men marry down the social ladder, women up)

This means someone who doesn't need them, someone who doesn't kiss their *** all the time. Someone who isn't so blown away by their very presence that he can't speak.

Men aren't much better. But generally men only look for attractiveness and a nice personality, which is pretty easy to understand. Women look for so much more.
Asking a woman how to get a girl is like taking financial advise from a loan shark. You will have to figure it out yourself or ask a man that has success, like with everything else.
No, I don't agree. How exactly would that come about, biologically? What is the evolutionary purpose for ';resistance';? Selectiveness, yes, resistance, no. What proof do you have that this is ';true';, anyway?

I think it's so funny that some men think they know what women want better than women do. Ironically enough, most of the men who think they know so much, don't have a ';woman.';

EDIT--';W34oP';...(or whatever it is...) While your response may have been ';fun'; (I know I found it amusing) it is inaccurate. Nothing that you said has anything to do with ';biology,'; every concept you touched on is a social construct. Again, the female of our species must be ';selective';, perhaps even to a greater extent than the male, as pregnancy is very ';expensive'; (in a biological sense) and while selectiveness requires a bit of GENUINE resistance, feigned ';resistance'; serves no ostensible reason. I am not saying that it is not a behavior that women engage in, I just believe that ';resistance'; is a social construct...the purpose is so that the male can feel ';assured'; of paternity...if she seems ';resistant'; to him, at first, it must mean that she is ';chaste';...chastity is a social construct, and only came about when patriarchal societies first arose. Only then was ';paternity'; necessary, in a social context.

And ';typical 'girl' thinking (?)...how cute...vapid, but cute. A lot like your answer.

EDIT--Monad--Only the things that ARE a social construct. Obviously I don't think EVERYTHING is a social construct, or I would have never mentioned biology or evolution at all...of course. I would believe that everything is ';nurture'; (environment) and not ';nature'; (biology). It is obvious from my response that I think we are subject to both. We are influenced by our biology AND our environment...and LOTS of scientitists agree. ; )
Regrettably, I think that's a real possibility. I would just say that not all women are like that.
